Mexico-based airlines, TAR Airlines, has been said to accept bitcoin payments from its clients through OpenPay, a payment service provider, which announced this news later on Tuesday.

Mexican airlines are looking for capitalization of bitcoin popularity together with easy method of payment for their clients. As international customers make large portin of TAR’s clients, company seeks to benefit from this situation. Moreover, this services could not be useful only for the airlines, but also for the Mexico tourism secotr.

Commercial Manager of TAR Airlines stated: “It’s a real honor for TAR to have a team of developers at Openpay who are up to the technological advances of this globalized world. This business partnership has enabled TAR to become the first airline in Latin America to accept Bitcoin and put us in the forefront of both technology and security. Therefore, it is an honor to celebrate this great technological advance with Openpay. We will continue to evaluate new payment options that give a real added value to our customers.”

TAR Airlines follow previous bitcoin announcement from airBaltic, which started to use bitcoin currency since July 2014.
